Webinar Series: Dr Jonathan Hardy - Mammals, Birds, Molluscs & Insects

Join Dr Hardy on a fascinating tour through the families of mammals, birds, insects and molluscs.  Dr Hardy will provide us with an in-depth look at the themes common to each of these groups and illustrate each with cases.

Session 1 - Mammals

A fascinating and important group of medicines, Dr Hardy finds the mammal medicines are the most commonly indicated group in his practice.  These medicines have a wide sphere of application, but are especially useful for eating disorders, addictions and anxiety states. 

Dr Hardy will take us through the general themes found in mammal cases and look at a number of different families, including cats, primates and dogs.  He will demonstrate how the traditional use of provings, materia medica and precise use of the repertory can combine beautifully with Sensation level material to give us a clear totality.

The medicines studied in this webinar include Lac Leoninum (Lion), Sanguis Panther Tigris (Tiger), Lac Lupinum (Wolf), and Lac Maternum (Human Milk).  Some of the cases will be of children and we will study case taking techniques for our younger clients.

Session 2 - Birds

In Dr Hardy's words: "This is an enjoyable group to study.  The feeling we often get from a bird case is one of joy, compassion and lightness.  On the other hand, the opposite pole is equally common - heaviness and frustration.  Bird people carry a heavy sense of responsibility.  They feel tied down by a sense of duty when what they really want is to be free - to rise above mundane duties and concerns and fly: expressing their higher nature.  They love travel, new ideas, art and spirituality.  Their pain comes when they are trapped in the material world and its obligations and suffering."

In this session we will study these themes through cases of a number of medicines including Raven, Peregrine Falcon, Baldheaded Eagle, Dove and Domestic Hen.

Session 3 - Molluscs

This is a large and extremely varied family of medicines.  Homoeopathic cases in this medicine group are often wonderfully rich in Sensation level material and Dr Hardy will show us how to use this method in conjunction with our traditional homoeopathic methods of repertorisation and use of materia medica and provings.

We will study the common themes of this family and contrast the three main mollusc classes of bivalves, gastropods and cephalopods.

Cases of a variety of molluscs will be studied, including Helix Aspersa (Garden Snail), Venus Mercenaria (American Clam), Pearl, Octopus and Nautilus.

Session 4 - Insects

Dr Hardy will help us to understand the themes common to insect cases generally, and in particular those of restless activity, ambition and metamorphosis.  We will also investigate the specific themes of various insect orders, including Diptera (flies), Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths), Dictyoptera (cockroaches) and Orthoptera (locusts).  

In Dr Hardy's opinion, insect medicines are under-prescribed - often a bird or drug medicine is prescribed when it should be an insect.

The different insect groups will be illustrated with case examples which will include Blatta Orientalis, Musca Domestica, Culex, Schistocerca, and Limenitis. 

In Dr Hardy's words:  "To cover all this we will need to manifest the insect theme of intense activity, but it should be fun!"

About the Presenter: 

Dr Jonathan Hardy first studied zoology at Oxford University and then medicine at Southampton University where he qualified in 1984.  After subsequent training in homoeopathy he became a member of the Faculty of Homeopathy (UK) in 1988 and since that time has been working full time on the south coast of England as a homoeopathic doctor.

He practices classical homoeopathy, combining the time-tested traditional techniques with the exciting new methods developed by the well-known homoeopathic teachers of the last twenty years.   He uses kingdoms and family/group analysis as pioneered by Jan Scholten and Rajan Sankaran, Sankaran's system of miasms, and Sensation level material.  This is combined with the use of repertory, materia medica and provings.

Dr Hardy firmly believes our beautiful healing art will have a brilliant and leading role in the health care of coming generations.
