This clinical skills training will run over two separate days on 31 March and 19 May 2019 and will provide the opportunity to brush up on clinical skills and patient evaluation while also discussing medicines and rubrics that are relevant to your findings. 

6 CPD points for one day or 12 CPD points for both days.

AHA General Members:  $145 for both days or $90 for one day

Venue:

Hawthorn (further details provided upon registration).  

Parking is available on the street and also at the rear of the building and the venue is accessible via public transport. Tea, coffee and morning and afternoon tea will be provided and lunch may be purchased nearby.

The training will be led by Philippa Meier and Lakshmi Subramanian, Professional AHA members, and will introduce clinical examination skills and include a discussion of rubrics and medicines relevant to the assessments we make of our clients.  You will get a chance to practice the skills on other attendees.  Please bring your sphygmomanometer, otoscope, stethoscope, and any other equipment you may have.  

 Day 1 - 31 March 2019:

  • Skin, hair and nails (including hair and nail assessment and identifying and describing eruptions as relevant to our materia medica and repertory)
  • Head, face and neck including lymphatics (including glandular and thyroid palpation)
  • Ears (including use of otoscope)
  • Nose, mouth and throat (including inspection and signs to look for)

Day 2 - 19 May 2019:

  • Thorax and lungs (including chest/lung sounds and what to pay attention to when taking blood pressure readings)
  • Peripheral vascular system and lymphatics
  • Abdomen (including palpation and auscultation)
  • Musculo-skeletal system (including range of movement and pain)
  • Basic neurological (including balance and gait)

Clinical Skills Teachers:

Philippa Meier is a homoeopath, nurse and nurse educator.  She has a great deal of experience in working with both homoeopathy and western medicine, as well as in teaching clinical skills to trainee nurses.

Lakshmi Subramanian has been a practising homoeopath for many years and has also been a lecturer of homoeopathy.  She has a very strong knowledge of materia medica and repertorial analysis.
